The financial institutions with a substantial increase in the deposit growth played a good role in promoting and supporting the district’s economic development in 2008. The deposit balance of 10 financial institutions in the Ganjingzi district reached 30.35689 billion Yuan in 2008, up by 17.4% than that of the previous year. Among them, the savings deposit was 20.00039 billion Yuan, increased by 25.6%. The loans balance was 19.91595 billion Yuan, increased by 7.0%. Among them, the short term loans reached 10.1119 billion Yuan, the same as that in the previous year, the medium and long term loans reached 6.60338 billion Yuan, the same as that in the previous year, others reached 3.20067 billion yuan, up by 71.3%. The district had a total of 124 bank outlets at the end of the year of 2008, five reduced. The number of the employees in the financial institution reached 1693, 113 increased, and the number of the deposit enterprises was 21693, 808 reduced. ¡ö Science and Technology The key tasks of the scientific and technological work in Ganjingzi District went smoothly in 2008. The scientific and technological innovation work in enterprises further progressed. The district also organized enterprises to apply for the scientific and technological plans and the construction of the R&D centers for the key projects. Dalian Huixin Titanium Equipment Co., LTD was designated as the R&D center of the facility fishery engineering in Liaoning province, and the district’s Productivity Acceleration Center was regarded as a demonstration project of the science and technology service agent striving for the best in Dalian. At the same time, the district organized enterprises to apply for several plans and honors including four transition plans from the scientific and technological achievements in the national agriculture to the capital, two national new products programs and seven innovation funds for technology based firms in Liaoning Province, and carried out exchanges and cooperation actively in this field. The district promoted its geographic and industrial advantages during the major exhibitions such as the SEMIPARK Shanghai meeting, the 6th Software Products Fair and the 2008 China International Patent and Products Fair, so as to better attracted foreign investment and laid the foundation of the hi-tech and IT industries. The district also conducted a number of activities in various forms in scientific and technological field, such as the Intellectual Property Protection Publicity Week on April 19 to 26, and the Science and Technology Week with the theme of joining hands to build an innovation-oriented city on May 17 to 23, further increasing the cadres and the masses’ awareness of the intellectual property rights and innovation. Soft scientific research work was carried out in the district. The district fixed a total of 16 key research subjects and made important achievements in 2008. The district carried out science and technology evaluation work strictly in the field of the value of the hi-tech industry in 14 sub-districts. In addition, the reaffirmed work for the hi-tech companies, the publicity of the new policies and the striving for the support in capital and polices were conducted. The district had a national level science and research program and 14 municipal level ones at the end of October of 2008, receiving financial support of 800,000 yuan and 7.42 million yuan respectively. A total of 19 projects were declared as the district level science and research program in 2008, receiving the financial support of 5.5 million yuan.
